Aperture by Creax

Kent Rogowski
Kent Rogowski's Love=Love series combines pieces from over 40 store-bought puzzles to create dramatically surreal collages of skies and flowers. Apparently, though puzzle pieces typically only fit into one unique spot, thanks to cost-cutting manufacturers, they can be interchanged with other puzzles of the same brand. Michel Gondry at Deitch Projects!
Two years ago Michel Gondry brought his film The Science of Sleep off-screen and to the three-dimensional world of Deitch Projects. Good news Gondry fans, he's coming back for an exhibit based around his upcoming film, Be Kind Rewind.
The film follows two childhood friends living in Pasaic, New Jersey, trying to make ends meet. A magnetized brain, a ruined video store inventory and a D.I.Y. idea later and you've got the latest brainchild of the quirky filmmaker. The exhibit is a direct reflection of his film, where the characters begin to recreate each ruined VHS tape (remember those?) with their own versions of the erased movies. The gallery will be turned into a recreation of the video store, "complete with a back lot containing a variety of movie sets where visitors can make their own renditions of films." Gondry says he isn't trying to teach people how to make movies, he is just "hoping to create a network of creativity and communication that is guaranteed to be free and independent from any commercial institution."
The exhibit runs from February 16th through March 22nd. Deitch Projects is located at 18 Wooster Street.

Are lastnite's Party people real?
Nylon Movie?
Counting in Fives, the first full-length Nylon movie, was a huge hit (no, really).
Starring the British punk sensations The Horrors, the film was directed by our editor-in-chief, Marvin Scott Jarrett. It follows the band on their first American tour, as they encounter WalMart, Williamsburg, and the ultimate test of U.S. cool, Cory Kennedy.
The Horrors' American trek was fun and a bit harrowing, and so was our Sundance adventure. By our Park City party, we spotted Nylon's former cover girls Mary Kate Olsen and Kirsten Dunst, plus Guylon icon Jared Leto and The MisShapes, Peaches Geldof, and photographer Jeremy Kost.
But with such an electric group of people, something was bound to explode - and it was the power lines. Midway through Nylon's epic Sundance party with Hugo Boss, the power blew across Park City, leaving The Horrors and their guests in total darkness.
Which, of course, just made everything more fun...
